Sammy Clingan

Samuel " Sammy" Clingan ( born January 13, 1984 in Belfast ) is a Northern Irish football player who is since 2012 in the Doncaster Rovers under contract.

Club career

After Clingan was changed as a 16- year-old from his home country to the Wolverhampton Wanderers, he came only in the second team of the club to train. Even after his appointment as captain in 2003, he did not manage to break into the first team, so he was loaned in 2004 for the seasons 2004/2005 and 2005/ 2006 Chesterfield FC to play matches in a higher playing level.

The Spireites he came to 29 missions, in which he scored three goals. Yet He quickly became a fan favorite.

Nottingham Forest

After his return to the Wolves expressed in 2006 Nottingham Forest his interest in signing the midfielder. Although Clingan really wanted to stay at Chesterfield FC, the club's transfer fee could not pay, he was sold for 40,000 Euros to Nottingham.

After getting over the injury Clingan was in the league game against Crewe Alexandra his comeback and scored on a free kick in a 2-0 draw. This goal was also his first in the Reds jersey.

At the end of the season Clingan was made a contract extension offer, but that he refused. On June 17, 2008 Clingan was then obliged by Norwich City. There he received a two -year contract.

Norwich City

After his move to Norwich City Clingan was also set here and was -budgetary Penalty-takers of the season 2008 /2009. All four shot of him penalty shots went in goal.

National

Clingan was active for the U-17, U-19 and U -21 divisions of Northern Ireland. He completed six games for the U -21 and was in these games, the captain of the team.

His A- team debut Clingan graduated in May 2006 in a friendly against Uruguay at Giants Stadium in New York City. His competitive debut for the national team of his country he gave on September 2, 2006, a 0-3 home against Lower Long Iceland, which was the prelude to qualifying for the European Championship 2008 for Northern Ireland.
