Sammy Koskei

Sammy Koskei ( born May 14, 1961) is a former Kenyan middle distance runner, who specializes in the 800 -meter run.

At the Commonwealth Games in 1982 in Brisbane and at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki he missed each of the final. For this he was able to secure the title in the 800 -meter run at the Track and Field Championships Africa 1984 in Rabat and at the Track Championships Africa 1985 in Cairo. He also won at this distance during 1985 IAAF World Cup in Canberra.

On August 26, 1984, he presented in Cologne with a time of 1:42,28 min an African record in the 800 -meter run. It was not until 25 years later succeeded his compatriot David Rudisha Lekuta improve this brand. However Koskei could never successfully exploit at World Championships or Olympic Games his talent.
