Samoeng District

Amphoe Samoeng ( in Thai: อำเภอ สะเมิง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of the province of Chiang Mai. The Chiang Mai province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Mae Taeng the Mae Rim, Hang Dong, Mae Wang, Mae Chaem and Galyani Vadhana the province of Chiang Mai, Pai and Mae Hong Son

History

The district Samoeng was founded in 1902. In 1937, he was demoted to a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) and only reached again in 1958 the full Amphoe status.

Management

The circle is divided into five subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 45 villages ( Muban ).

Samoeng has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon) and covers parts of the tambon Tai Samoeng.

There are also four " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
