Sampati

Sampati (Sanskrit सम्पाति ) is a divine figure from the Indian national epic, the Ramayana and the brother of Jatayu. It helps Hanuman find Sita.

The Ramayana

The Ramayana was written between the 4th century BC and the 2nd century AD in India. It is a consisting of 24,000 couplets Art seal, which is attributed to the legendary singer Valmiki and completed as largely since the 2nd century AD applies. Sampati in the Ramayana

He is the eldest son of Garuda and has the shape of a vulture. In juvenile competition with his brother Jatayu to see who can fly higher, it protects Jatayu, like that of the sun gets too close, with his wings from the heat, burn the resulting. From then on he has deprived of his wings on earth and live apart from his brother.

In solitude he observed how Sita is kidnapped by Ravana to Lanka. When the search party enfeebled by Angada and Hanuman at a beach breaks, without finding a trace of Sita, Sampati sees in them a welcome first prey. Only when he noticed that they know his brother, he can from them and asks about the fate Jatayus. After they told him that Jatayu Sita wanted to liberate and was killed by Ravana, he tells them the whereabouts of Sita and that he can see there because of his divine foresight still. Then Hanuman performs his big jump over the ocean to Lanka, there to liberate Sita.

The birthplace Sampatis lies in Hindu mythology in Griddhraj Parvat in the district Satna.
