Samsung Techwin

Samsung Techwin ( Kor. 삼성 테크윈 ) is a South Korean company for security solutions, aeronautics, optoelectronics, automation and defense technology. The company is a subsidiary of the Samsung Group.

History

Founded in 1977, the company launched in 1978 a precision engineering laboratory and introduced from 1979 cameras for years. In collaboration with General Electric aircraft engines were made for South Korean Jets from 1980. The production of self-propelled 155- mm howitzer began in 1984.

The name was changed in 1987 Samsung Aerospace Industries, after also helicopters were produced. 1995 bought Samsung Aerospace Industries the German camera manufacturer Rollei, and later Union Optics of Japan, a manufacturer of semiconductor equipment. 1996 was prepared by the KF -16 first South Korean fighter jet.

In 1999, the aircraft business was sold to Korea Aerospace Industries and changed the name of the company in 2000 to Samsung Techwin.

The self-propelled 155- mm self-propelled howitzer - K9 Thunder was exported in the coming years in Turkey. In 2005, the company launched in the South Korean digital camera market and cooperated with Pentax.
