Samuel Adams

Samuel Adams (born 16 Septemberjul / September 27 1722greg in Boston, Massachusetts, .. † October 2, 1803 ) was an American statesman and revolutionary. He was an opponent of British colonial policy during the American Revolution and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. From 1794 to 1797 he also served as governor of Massachusetts.

Life

Adams attended Harvard College and began in 1740 after graduating from law school. He then worked as a clerk and later became a merchant. He led after the death of his father the family business, a brewery on. After 20 years, he had to finally give up the never very profitable business. Then he focused on politics. From 1756 he worked for eight years as a tax collector in Boston. From 1765 to 1774 he was a member of the lower house of the General Court of Massachusetts.

Samuel Adams was one of the main fighter for American independence and as a speaker very well known.
