Samuel Cuburu

Samuel Abdul Cuburu Cano ( born February 20, 1928 in Orizaba, Veracruz, † unknown), also known by the nickname Chapela, was a Mexican footballer, who acted mainly in midfield. He is the younger brother of the equally successful soccer player Martín Cuburu, which was at least twice with España champion (1940 and 1942), and José Antonio Cuburu, of the ADO and the Puebla FC was under contract. In his home town of Orizaba, a sports complex was opened in December 2002, which bears his name: the Campo Samuel Cuburu Chapela.

Biography

Cuburu was regarded as a silent member of his profession, who never spoke in public about his career as a footballer. He was a professional trainer and enjoyed playing golf.

Association

During his professional career in the Mexican Primera División was Chapela Cuburu initially at Puebla FC and later with the CD Zacatepec under contract. With Zacatepec he won the championship in 1955.

National

His debut in the Mexican national was Samuel Cuburu on September 25, 1949 in a game against Cuba, which was won 3-0.

His second international game he played at the Football World Cup 1950. Afterwards he came for the national team again until 1956 in two other games to use.

Coach

After his playing career, he coached for a time its in the Segunda División playing home club FC Orizaba.
