Samuel D. Woods

Samuel Davis Woods ( born September 19, 1845 in Mount Pleasant, Maury County, Tennessee, † December 24, 1915 in San Francisco, California ) was an American politician. Between 1900 and 1903 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In February 1850 Samuel Woods came with his parents to Stockton, California, where he later attended the public schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1875 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Stockton and San Francisco to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career.

Following the resignation of Mr De Vries Marion Woods was at the due election for the second seat from California as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on December 3, 1900. After a re-election, he could remain until March 3, 1903 Congress. In 1902 he gave up another candidacy. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Samuel Woods practiced as a lawyer again. He died on December 24, 1915 in San Francisco.
