Samuel J. Aquila

Samuel Joseph Aquila (* September 24, 1950 in Burbank, California, USA) is archbishop of Denver.

Life

Samuel Joseph Aquila received on 5 June 1976, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Archdiocese of Denver.

On 12 June 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Fargo. The Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Harry J. Flynn, donated to him on 24 August of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Fargo, James Stephen Sullivan, and the Archbishop of Denver, Charles Chaput, OFM Cap Joseph.

Samuel Joseph Aquila was on 18 March 2002 in succession to James Stephen Sullivan, who resigned for health reasons, Bishop of Fargo. May 29, 2012 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Archbishop of Denver. The inauguration took place on 18 July of the same year.
