Samuel J. Montgomery

Samuel James Montgomery ( born December 1, 1896 in Buffalo, LaRue County, Kentucky, † June 4, 1957 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ) was an American politician. Between 1925 and 1927 he represented the first electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1902 Samuel Montgomery came with his parents to Bartlesville in Oklahoma Territory. He attended the public schools of his new home and studied at the University of Oklahoma law thereafter. After his made ​​in 1919 admitted to the bar he began in Bartlesville to work in his new profession. Previously, he participated as a soldier in the First World War. For his military achievements, he was honored by the French government.

Montgomery was a member of the Republican Party as their candidate he was in 1924 elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. There he broke on March 3, 1925 from Everette B. Howard. Already at the next congressional elections Montgomery lost again against Howard so that he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1927. After his time in Congress, Montgomery worked as a lawyer in Tulsa. Later he moved his practice to Oklahoma City, where he died in 1957.
