Samuel Jones (athlete)

Samuel Jones ( Samuel Jones Symington, born January 16, 1880 † April 13, 1954 in Knoxville, Tennessee) was an American high jumper and Olympic champion.

In the years 1901, 1903 and 1904, he was Master of the Amateur Athletic Union. At the Olympic Games in 1904 in St. Louis, he won with 1.80 meters. In the triple jump, he finished seventh.

After studying at New York University, he worked as an engineer and later as a teacher.
