Samuel S. Carr

Samuel S. Carr (* October 15, 1837 in England; † February 25, 1908 in Brooklyn, New York) was an American genre painter, who specialized primarily on the representation of children playing, sheep and beach scenes.

Life

Samuel Carr studied at the Royal School of Design in Chester, England, and emigrated in 1863 to the USA. In 1865 he took a course in Technical drawing at the Cooper Union in New York City. From 1870 he lived in Brooklyn, New York, and was a member and briefly also president of the Brooklyn Art Club.
