San Andres (Catanduanes)

San Andres is a Filipino municipality of the island province of Catanduanes. It has 35 779 inhabitants ( census of 1 May 2010 ) living in 38 barangays. The community is described as partly urban and belongs to the third income class municipalities in the Philippines. San Andres is located about 351 km southeast of the capital of the Philippines Manila and 14 km west of the provincial capital Virac.

San Andres is the westernmost municipality on the island and has a topography of hilly to mountainous described in which the nature and water reserve Catanduanes Watershed Forest Reserve, with its vast rain forests. The highest point is the 704 meter high Mount Tamboo.

The climate of the island of Catanduanes is classified as Type II, with no pronounced dry or wet season, the highest rainfall occurs from October to December. The community is located within the Typhongürtels in the Philippines.
