San Bruno is a city in San Mateo County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 39,900 inhabitants ( 2004). The geographic coordinates are: 37.62 ° N, 122.43 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 14.1 square kilometers and connects to the San Francisco International Airport and Golden Gate National Cemetery.

9 September 2010 exploded in San Bruno gas line, which six people died and more than 30 people were injured. About 50 houses were destroyed and 120 more damaged.

Geography

The town lies between South San Francisco and Millbrae near the San Francisco International Airport and about 19 kilometers south of downtown San Francisco. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total an area of 14.1 square kilometers land area. The city extends from the mainly flat land near the Bay of San Francisco to the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, which rise in Crestmoor about 183 meters and in Portola Highlands about 213 meters above the sea level. The city hall is located at an elevation of 12.5 meters officially.

Parts of Mills Park, Crestmoor, and Rollingwood are very hilly and have a few canyons. Streams flow mostly verdolt ( covers ) from springs in the hills around the city in the direction of San Francisco Bay. Just west of Skyline Boulevard extending outside the town of San Andreas artificial Lake, which for the famous San Andreas Fault in 1895 was eponymous. This lake is one of several water reservoirs of the water supply of San Francisco and provides drinking water for San Francisco and some communities in San Mateo County - including parts of San Bruno.

San Bruno enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters.
