San Diego Gulls (1995–2006)

The San Diego Gulls were an American ice hockey team from San Diego, California. They played from 1995 to 2003 in the West Coast Hockey League, and from 2003 to 2006 the ECHL.

History

The San Diego Gulls replaced in 1995, the same team from the International Hockey League, which has been following the 1994/95 season to Los Angeles, California, relocated and renamed in Los Angeles Ice Dogs. The Gulls won their eight years in the West Coast Hockey League five times the Taylor Cup. On 11 December 2002 Danielle Dube became the third female goalkeeper for a professional team of men. Dube played as a goalkeeper for the San Diego Gulls in the 4-1 defeat against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. In 2003, the WCHL in the Pacific Division of the ECHL, was formerly known as the East Coast Hockey League, integrated. In 2004, the Gulls, the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche were. On 29 June 2006, the Gulls were dissolved and their players were available as free agents.

During her WCHL - time and in their first years of the East Coast Hockey League, the Gulls from St. Cloud State University ( Minnesota) by the former students were coached Steve Martinson. Martinson left the Gulls and went as a trainer to the Rockford IceHogs of the UHL. Martin St. Amour was the successor at the Gulls before the season 2004/05. St. Amour resigned in the middle of the 2005/06 season and was replaced by former player of the Gulls, Jamie Black and BJ MacPherson replaced as co- trainer.
