San Felice a Cancello

San Felice a Cancello is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 17,141 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The community is located about 14 kilometers southeast of Caserta, about 30 kilometers north-east of Naples in the midst of the Valle di Suessola. In the vicinity of the mountain Sant'Angelo a Palombara collected ( 661 m) at the edge of the Parco Regionale del Partenio. The municipality borders the province of Naples.

History

The area was settled as early as the 5th century BC by the Samnites. A local chapel, which was dedicated to the martyr and bishop Felix of Nola, is demonstrated for the 10th century. Many years were the places depending on the rule in Arienzo.

Traffic

The community extends along the railway line from Rome to Naples in northeast -southwest direction. From the station there are still in Cancello of compounds to Avellino and Benevento. At the district Cancello the Autostrada A30 Caserta / San Marco Evangelista passes to Salerno / Mercato San Severino. North of the village, the Strada Statale 7 of Caserta / Maddaloni leads to Benevento.
