San Fernando de Apure is the capital of the Venezuelan state of Apure.

History

The city was founded on 28 February 1788 Villa de San Fernando del Paso Real de Apure on the banks of the Río Apure of Fernando de Miyares González, the Governor and Capitán General of New Granada. At the foundation of his Don Juan Antonio Rodríguez and the Capuchin monk Fray Buenaventura de Benaocaz was helpful. Since 1 December 1793, the town is called "town". Attractions

San Fernando de Apure is the birthplace of composer and guitarist Leopoldo Igarza (* 1941).
