San Giorgio a Liri
San Giorgio a Liri is a municipality in the province of Frosinone in the Italian region Latium, located about 3172 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 133 km southeast of Rome, 52 km southeast of Frosinone and 92 km north of Naples and about 30 km from the coast.
Geography
San Giorgio a Liri is located in the south of Cassino Lirital.
The districts are Cese Iumari and Torricelli.
The nearby towns are Castelnuovo Parano, Esperia, Pignataro Interamna, Apollinare and Vallemaio.
History
San Giorgio a Liri was almost completely destroyed in World War II by British and American bombers, among other things, because it was part of the Gustav Line, a defensive line of the Germans against the Allies.
Customs
Every year on August 16 there will be a big party in favor of the patron saint San Rocco.
