San Giovanni Incarico

San Giovanni Incarico is a municipality in the province of Frosinone in the Italian region Latium, located about 3414 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 108 km southeast of Rome and 28 km southeast of Frosinone.

Geography

San Giovanni Incarico located above the confluence of the Sacco and Liri in the Lago di San Giovanni. The center is below the Monte Vaglia (537 m) of one of the Ausoni. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Ausoni.

The nearby towns are Arce, Ceprano, Colfelice, Falvaterra, Pastena, Pico, Pontecorvo, Roccasecca.

History

The inhabitants of 124 BC destroyed by the Romans founded the city Fregellae Fabrateria Nova in the mountian Cività today's municipality of San Giovanni Incarico. As this 580 AD, was destroyed by the Lombards settled the inhabitants to the hills easier to defend the area, including the site of the present-day San Giovanni Incarico. The first mention of the place, even with the name Carica, however, dates only from the year 977. 1053 appeared for the first time the name of San Giovanni on.

As a result, the place belonged to the abbey of Montecassino that below San Giovanni Incarico founded a daughter house. Around 1200 came to San Giovanni Incarico family Pagani.
