The San José (English Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport ) airport is the airport of the city of San José, in the U.S. state of California and the smallest of the three international airports in the San Francisco Bay Area by the San Francisco Airport and Oakland International Airport.

History

In 1940, the city of San José bought about 200 acres of land in order to build an airport can. 1945, a portion of this area was leased to a flight school that built a first start and runway. In 1965 the first passenger terminal, the current Terminal C was opened.

In 1988, American Airlines at the airport hub operations, at the same time, construction began on Terminal A, which opened in 1990.

In November 2001, the official name of the airport was changed in honor of Norman Mineta. Mineta was from 1971 to 1975 mayor of San Jose and from 2001 to 2006 Transport Minister in the Cabinet of George W. Bush.

After the completion of the construction of Terminal B Terminal C in 2010 was demolished.

Operation

The San Jose airport is connected to the major American hubs. There are also direct links to U.S. domestic destinations, mostly on the west coast.
