San Juan Cancuc is a municipality in the center of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is located in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. The name comes from the Nahuatl Cancuc and means quetzal star; San Juan is the Spanish equivalent to St. Johann.

The municipality has about 29,000 inhabitants and an area of 173.62 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the eponymous San Juan Cancuc; another larger village in the municipality is Chiloljá.

The municipality of San Juan Cancuc borders the Municipalities Sitala, Chilón Ocosingo Oxchuc, Tenejapa, Chenalhó and Pantelhó.
