San Juan de los Morros is the capital of the state Guárico in Venezuela.

History

San Juan de los Morros was founded on May 26, 1780 originally belonged to the state of Aragua. Around 1930 the borders were moved, and the city then became part of the State guarico, whose capital it was later, where they replaced Calabozo.

Geography

San Juan de los Morros is surrounded by mountains, whereas the rest of the state is very flat. The climate is strongly influenced by the mountains. The temperature varies over the year, between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius.

Attractions

A main attraction is the 40 m high statue of San Juan Bautista, which was inaugurated in 1934. Worth seeing are also the University Universidad Nacional Experimental " Rómulo Gallegos " and the two natural monuments Monumento Natural Aristides Rojas and Juan Germán Roscio Natural Monument.

Economy

San Juan de los Morros is famous for its healing sulfur springs finished. The city is regarded as a health resort and many tourists see the city. In addition to tourism, however, predominantly food and wood processing industry.
