San Kamphaeng District

Amphoe San Kamphaeng ( in Thai: อำเภอ สันกำแพง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of the province of Chiang Mai. The Chiang Mai province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise): Amphoe the Saraphi, Mueang Chiang Mai, San Sai, Doi Saket and Mae On Chiang Mai province, and Ban Thi Lamphun Province.

History

1902 Khwaeng Mae Om was founded. Beginning of the 20th century, the counties outside of Bangkok from Khwaeng been renamed to Amphoe. Since 1923, the Amphoe San Kamphaeng exists.

Management

The circle is divided into ten subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 100 villages ( Muban ).

In the district there is a town ( thesaban Mueang ):

  • Ton Pao ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ต้น เปา ), consisting of the whole tambon Ton Pao.

In addition, there are four small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • San Kamphaeng ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สันกำแพง ) consists of parts of tambon San Kamphaeng and Chae Chang, as well as from the whole Tambon Sai Mun,
  • Mae Pu Kha ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แม่ ปู คา ) consists of the whole Tambon Mae Pu Kha
  • Buak Khang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บวก ค้าง ) consists of the whole tambon Buak Khang,
  • On Tai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ออ น ใต้ ) consists of the whole tambon On Tai.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.

Note: The numbers 7 to 9.14 and 15 are tambon which form now the Amphoe Mae On.
