San Lazzaro di Savena

San Lazzaro di Savena is an Italian commune in the province of Bologna with 31 466 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

The municipality of San Lazzaro di Savena located on the Via Emilia, six kilometers southeast of the city center of Bologna. The territory of the municipality extends to the plains towards and at the foot of hills foothills of the province. From the urban network of the provincial capital of Bologna San Lazzaro di Savena just across the river Savena, on the left bank of the eponymous district of Bologna begins.

The watercourses Zena, Idice and Savena, after whom San Lazzaro di Savena got part of its name, flowing through the community.

History

The area has been inhabited since ancient times. There are numerous other findings, which come from the Bronze Age.
