San Luis is a town and a municipality in the Cuban province of Santiago de Cuba. It is located 28 km north of Santiago de Cuba.

The city was founded in 1827 on the site of a ranch. The connection to the railway network accelerated their development. On August 19, 1898, the town was given the status of Municipalities.

In 2004, the municipality of San Luis had a total population of 88 496. on an area of 498 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 177.7 inhabitants per km ².

The following locations are part of the municipality of Dos Caminos, La Luz, Majaguabo, Monte Dos Norte and Sur leagues.

Economy

Economic focus is agriculture and the processing of agricultural products. It is cultivated sugar cane, coffee and fruit. In the vicinity are the sugar mills Rafael Reyes ( NNE) and Paquito Rosales ( NE).

San Luis is a railway junction. In addition, manganese is mined.
