San Marcellino

San Marcellino is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 12,889 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The community is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Caserta, about 16 kilometers north- west of Naples, in the Terra di Lavoro.

History

The area was inhabited in the Neolithic period. However, important colonies developed only in the reign of the Lombards and later from the 11th/12th. Century in the reign Rainulf Drengots.

Traffic

San Marcellino is intersected by the Strada Provinciale 335, a beltway of Greater Naples - Caserta. The San Marcellino - Frignano railway station is on the railway line Roma - Formia -Naples.
