San Marzano Oliveto
San Marzano Oliveto is a municipality with 1064 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Asti (AT ), Region Piedmont.
Geography
The place is located near the Belbo ( river system of the Po). The municipality covers an area of 9 km ².
The neighboring municipalities are Calamandrana, Canelli, Castelnuovo Calcea, Moasca and Nizza Monferrato.
Specialty
In San Marzano Oliveto wine production. The berries of the grape varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay may be processed for sparkling wine Alta Langa. The Muscat grape for the Asti Spumante, a sweet DOCG sparkling wine with a low alcohol content and for still wine Moscato d' Asti is also grown here. In San Marzano Oliveto also vines of Barbera for the Barbera d'Asti, a red wine with DOCG status, as well as for the Barbera del Monferrato are grown.
