San Miguel (Corrientes)

San Miguel is the capital of the department of San Miguel in the province of Corrientes in northeastern Argentina. In the classification of municipalities in the province of Corrientes is one of the place to the second category.

History

San Miguel was founded towards the end of 1810 by exiled Guaranís from the Jesuit reductions Corpus, Candelaria and San Carlos, who had fled from Brazil before the Bandeirantes. Shortly after its inception, the famous French naturalist Alcide D' Orbigny settled, the Esteros del Ibera explored first.
