San Miguel County is a county in the state of New Mexico to the United States. Here 29 393 people live. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Las Vegas.
Geography
The County is located in the central north-east of New Mexico and has an area of 12,265 square kilometers, of which 48 square kilometers (0.39 percent) of water. The county borders in New Mexico in a clockwise direction to the County: Mora County, Harding County, Quay County, Guadalupe County, Torrance County and Santa Fe County.

According to the census of 2000, there were 113 801 people in the county. There were 37 711 households and 28 924 families. The population density was 8 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 52.83 % White, 0.44 % African American, 36.88 % Native American, 0.27 % Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander residents from the and 6.77 % from other races groups; 2.78% were descended from two or more races. 14.99% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 37 711 households out of which 42.00 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 55.70 % were married couples living together, 14.70% had a female householder with no husband. 23.30 % were non-families. 19.30 % of all households and 6.40% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average family size was 3.43 persons.
