Sanbanxi Dam

The Sanbanxi Dam ( Chinese三 板 溪 水电站, Pinyin Sānbǎnxī shuǐdiànzhàn ) is a 185.5 m high dam on the upper CFR Yuan Shui in the People's Republic of China. To the shut-off part of a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts. The dam is located in the district of Jinping in Guizhou Province. The construction was begun in 2001 and completed five years later.

The project is intended to develop the western part of China. It is the most important part of the tenth five-year plan and is one of a total of 15 hydroelectric projects on the Yuan Shui. The total power is generated with four 250 MW turbines and allows for an annual supply of 2.428 billion kilowatt hours of electrical energy. The first unit was on 19 July 2006.
