Sancho I of Pamplona

Sancho I Garcés († December 11 925) was 905-925 King of Navarre from the house Jiménez.

He was a son of García ( II ) Jiménez and his second wife Dadildis of Pallars. The father was probably a member of the house of the Basque Íñigo Arista and was perhaps identical with an eponymous king of the mid-9th century. In the year 905, Sancho had his distant cousin Fortún Garcés deposed, banished him to the monastery of San Salvador de Leire and thus usurped the dominion over Pamplona.

Sancho had the traditional alliance of Pamplona ended with the Banu Qasi and included in the covenant with King Ordoño II of León an expansionist policy against the Caliphate of Córdoba ( Al -Andalus ).
