Sandi Thom
Sandi Thom ( born August 11, 1981 in Banff, actually Alexandria Thom ) is a Scottish singer and songwriter.
Career
Sandi Thom became known through a special internet campaign. For three weeks she played daily in her flat in London's Tooting, recorded performances, and transferred them to the Internet. These 21 Nights from Tooting were picked up by the press and achieved great popularity so quickly. A major record company she co signed and brought their debut single I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker ( With Flowers in My Hair ) out. Afterwards, although suspicions have been raised, the story was staged, but this could not be proved.
The single was a huge success internationally. In addition to number 1 in Great Britain, Ireland and Australia, it reached the top 10 among others in Sweden, France and New Zealand. The following debut album Smile ... It Confuses People jumped in her home also to the chart peak, but was already internationally less successful, but nevertheless sold 700,000 copies worldwide. The second single What If I'm Right was perceived only in English speaking countries.
Their second album The Pink & the Lily ( a nod to Lily the Pink) appeared two years later. Although the song The Devil 's Beat was still a minor success, although the album was a flop. The next album Merchants and Thieves 2010 was hardly noticed and stayed away from the charts, so that Sandi Thom remained essentially a one- hit wonder.
