Sandora Irvin

Sandora Irvin Lavett ( born February 23, 1982 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the San Antonio Silver Stars in the Women's National Basketball Association.

Career

College

Sandora Irvin played until 2005 for the Lady Frogs, the women's basketball team from Texas Christian University. Irvin was known in college especially for their block. In her last season for the Lady Frogs they throw a spectacular block 150 attempts, so she was only 2 blocks from the NCAA - record block away in one season. During her time at college Irvin spectacular block 480 throw attempts, so they hired the previous block record of 428. It was 2003, 2004 and 2005 was elected Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year by their strength in defense. In 2005 she was also elected nor Conference USA Player of the Year.

Women's National Basketball Association

Sandora Irvin was selected in the WNBA Draft in 2005 by the Phoenix Mercury in the third position. In the 2005 season she played twelve times for the Mercury. They scored an average of 3.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.5 blocks and 0.42 steals per game. In the 2006 season they even played in only seven games for the Mercury. After two rather below-average seasons, she was transferred to the San Antonio Silver Stars for a second-round pick in the WNBA Draft 2008. In the 2007 season it was 23 times for the Silver Stars on the field. Irvin got this season with an average game time of 5.6 minutes per game only 0.2 minutes, more than in the previous season. In addition, they scored an average of 1.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.4 blocks per game.
