Sandoval County, New Mexico
The Sandoval County is a county located in the northern part of the state of New Mexico in the United States. It has 89 908 inhabitants ( 2000). The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Bernalillo.
Geography
The County is located in the central northwestern New Mexico and has an area of 9,620; of which 13 square kilometers (0.13 percent) of water. Interest include Bandelier National Monument, Kasha - Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, Coronado State Park and Fenton Lake State Park. In the County extend parts of the national forests Santa Fe National Forest and Cibola National Forest. The county borders in New Mexico in a clockwise direction to the counties: Rio Arriba County, Los Alamos County, Santa Fe County, Bernalillo County, Cibola County, McKinley County and San Juan County.

According to the census of 2000, there were 30,126 people in the county. There were 11,134 households, and 7,537 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 56.22 % White, 0.78 % African American, 1.82 % Native American, 0.54 % Asian, 0.08 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 36.21 % from other races groups; 4.33% were descended from two or more races. 77.96 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 11,134 households out of which 34.60 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 44.50 % were married couples living together, 16.40 % had a female householder with no husband. 32.30 % were non-families. 26.60% of all households and 8.20% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.10 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 27.40 % under the age of 18, 10.90 % from 18 to 24, 27.00% from 25 to 44 years, 22.90 % between 45 and 64 years and 11.70 % were 65 years old or older. The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.70 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.90 males.
The median income for a household was $ 26,524, and the median income for a family was $ 31,250. Males have a median income of $ 27,307, women $ 22,588. The per capita income was $ 13,268. 24.40% of the population and 19.90% of families are below the poverty line. 27.80% of those under age 18 and 25.90% were 65 years or older.
