Sandra Pires Tavares ( born June 16, 1973 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian beach volleyball player, Olympic champion and world champion.

Career

After a fourth place finish at the FIVB World Tour 1993 Karina Lins e Silva Sandra Pires started in 1994 with Jackie Silva initially at the AVP Tour with three wins in fourteen tournaments. From 1995 to 1997, the two Brazilians won 29 FIVB tournaments twelve, were six times Second, occupied ten events in third place and received only once no medal, but reached at least the semifinals. In the years 1995 and 1996 Pires / Silva were also FIVB Tour Champion. However, their biggest success was winning the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 and a year later the World Champion title in Los Angeles.

1998 Adriana Samuel Ramos and Sandra Pires a Beach team. After two FIVB successes in 1998, the two South Americans were able to secure the bronze medal at the next Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. A year later Pires won with Tatiana Minello the silver medal at the World Championships in Klagenfurt. Not quite as successful was the collaboration with Leila Barros 2002, several fifth places were the best rankings in FIVB tournaments. In the first seven tournaments of 2003, Sandra Pires reached with their new partner Ana Paula Henkel four first and three second places, at the end of the season were the two FIVB Tour Champion of the year.
