Sandrine Piau

Sandrine Piau ( born June 5, 1965 in Issy -les -Moulineaux ) is a French soprano.

Sandrine Piau studied harp and singing at the Conservatoire de Paris and completed her studies at Versailles. It was first known as a singer in the field of historical performance practice.

Her repertoire, however today in the music of different eras. She sings works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Carl Maria von Weber and Benjamin Britten and others. She works primarily as an opera and concert singer on big stages. She had in the last couple of years in London, Bologna, Bordeaux and at the festivals of Salzburg, Montreux, Aix -en- Provence, Drottningholm and Dresden. As a soprano, she is also working with the Berlin Philharmonic.

The conductors who work with her are William Christie, Philippe Herreweghe, Frans Brüggen, Paul McCreesh, René Jacobs, Marc Minkowski, Kurt Masur and Jean -Christophe Spinosi. She has released several CDs with songs by Debussy and Mozart arias. As a specialist in Baroque music she has ersungen an excellent reputation, in collaboration with Christophe Rousset, Maurice Steger, Diego Fasolis and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra.
