Sandro Puppo

Sandro Puppo ( born January 28, 1918 in Piacenza, † 16 October 1986) was an Italian football player and coach.

Career

As a player

Puppo began his career in his hometown at Piacenza Calcio. He then played in his home country at Ambrosiana Inter and the FBC Venice, until he returned to Piacenza Calcio. After another stay in Venice he finished his playing career at AS Roma, in which he could win the Coppa Italia twice.

As a coach

In 1952, Puppo as coach of the Turkish national team. With it, he qualified for the World Cup 1954., Where he failed after two defeats on the German national team. After the retirement he went to Spain to attend the FC Barcelona. The team led by Ramón Villaverde and László Kubala led it to second place behind Real Madrid and the semi-finals of the Copa de SE El Generalísimo. He returned after a season in Italy and heir Aldo Olivieri as manager of Juventus. After two ninth places with the team to Giampiero Boniperti the club replaced him with Ljubisa Brocic. Puppo returned in the 1960s back to Turkey. There, he handled Beşiktaş Istanbul and trained again several times, the Turkish national team.
