Sandviken Municipality

Sandviken is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Gävleborg and the historic province Gastrikland. The main town of the municipality is Sandviken.

Other towns are Årsunda, Åshammar, Hammarby, Jäderfors, Järbo, Kungsgården, Österfärnebo, Storvik. Passing through the municipality, the European Route 16 and the railroad main line Gävle - Falun.

Geography

The municipality covers the foothills of the Scandinavian Mountains, about 70 km from north to south. The municipal area is largely a forest -covered hill country with vast wetlands in the east and south of the community. Sandviken 1927 and 1943, market town township. Today's greater community was created with the Swedish municipal reform in 1971 through generous merging the borough Sandviken, a small town ( Linköping ) Storvik and the local churches Järbo, Ovansjö, Årsunda and Österfärnebo. Economy

The community is a traditional industrial community, which is dominated by large companies Sandvik AB. Other industrial enterprises are located in Sandviken and Storvik.
