Sandy Saddler

Sandy Saddler ( born March 23, 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts, † 18 September 2001 in New York ) was an American boxer.

Career

Saddler began in 1944 with 17 years with the boxes. He was a tall black man with fearsome power and has been able to achieve over one hundred knockout victories as the only featherweight.

In 1948 there was the first encounter with the famous for his defensive art Italian-American world champion Willie Pep. Saddler won by knockout in the fourth round. He lost the rematch, but won the third and fourth meeting prematurely. Off to the career leaked letters, however, show that the fighting was most likely denied.

In 1949 he also won the half- lightweight title, who was then but not very recognized. Just before End of career he lost in 1955 against the Filipino Flash Elorde in Manila on points, beat the southpaw in the rematch but then due to a crash because of lacerations.

In 1956 he was involved in a traffic accident that caused such strong eye problems that he had to end his career.

Saddler defeated in his career also many light weight, such as Joe Brown, and punched with Jimmy Carter draw. The " Ring Magazine " lists him as the fourth best featherweight of all time. 1990 was Saddler induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
