Sangli ( Marathi: सांगली, Sangli, Sangli - Miraj twin cities as & Kupwad ) is an Indian city with 436 639 inhabitants. It is the capital of the district of Sangli in Maharashtra.

Geography

The city is located at 16 ° 52 '0 N latitude and 74 ° 34 ' 0 E longitude at an altitude of 544 m above sea level. NN around 400 km southeast of Mumbai.

Economy

In Sangli is the largest trade center for turmeric in Asia. The city is located in the " Sugar Belt ' of Maharashtra.
