Sanilac County, Michigan

Sanilac County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Sandusky.

Geography

The County is located in the east of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, on the east by Lake Huron, one of the five Great Lakes, and has an area of ​​4119 square kilometers, of which 1622 square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: St. Clair County, Lapeer County, Tuscola County and Huron County.

History

Sanilac County was formed in 1822 from parts of St. Clair County. It was named after Sanilac, called the Häuptlich the Wyandot, also Hurons who were formerly a powerful Native American people of North America.
