Sanity testing

Sanity check referred to in software engineering, a plausibility check. Sanity checks include, for example plausibility check of values ​​, a simple model-based testing, as well as consistency checks of requirements.

The validation of a software system often begins with sanity checks. For the full verification of a complex system model additional tests must be performed in a second step.
