History

Sanitz was already called in 1256 as Kirchdorf. Basis of documentary evidence was the allocation of the Church in Dänschenburg as Sanitz daughter church. Renewed mention was the church Sanitz the occasion of a contract dated June 2, 1291 Heinrich von Werle the Bishop of Schwerin towards his ward Nicholas of Rostock secures the right of patronage, which has been held since then by the rulers. As vassals different families were recorded in the 14th century, so the Rostock Bernhard Kopmann, Knight Siegfried of Plön, Reimar von Wedel, the Rostock councilor Dietrich Horn, his son, the mayor Dippold horn. Through succession, the village became the property of the monastery Doberan, to which it belonged until the Reformation. After secularization in 1552 it was placed under the Office Ribnitz as ducal domain and leased in the following centuries to different families. 1879, the village was placed under the Office Toitenwinkel.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on November 1, 1995 by the Home Office and registered under No. 92 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: "In a green -lying, with the crookedness directed forward and upward golden Abtstab, accompanied: the top three ( 2:1) silver apple flowers with golden stamens, down from a seated golden hare. "

The coat of arms was designed by the Schwerin heraldist Karl -Heinz quarry.

Flag

The flag of the municipality is equally lengthwise stripes of green, silver (white) and green. In the middle of bunting, located on each half of the height of the green stripes across, the municipal coat of arms, surrounded by a silver ( white ) board, whose thickness is one-twentieth the amount of bunting. The height of the bunting is related to the length as 3:5.

Sanitz has in Poland with Świdwin ( Schivelbein ) in the West Pomeranian Province, a partner community.

Economy and infrastructure

In the community Sanitz the Bundeswehr is the largest employer with air defense missile group 21.

In the district of Great Lüsewitz there are two institutes of the Julius Kühn Institute ( JKI), Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants.

By Sanitz leads the federal highway 110 During the day there are at any hour rail links towards Wismar Rostock Hbf and after Ticino. On the A20 Sanitz has a highway connection.

In the municipality there is a primary school, a school and a regional high school.

Sports
