Sanja Iveković

Sanja Iveković ( born January 6, 1949 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian artist who was known especially with photographs and collagen. Ivekovic is one of the first feminist artists in Croatia.

Life

Sanja Iveković studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. In her work, she examined gender- specific patterns in the mass media, later she turned explicitly political topics. It makes use of the means of photomontage, video art, performances and installations. In 2009 she was awarded the Camera Austria Prize of the city of Graz. Her works are in the collections of, among others, by the Generali Foundation in Vienna and the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein. Ivekovic lives in Zagreb.
