Sankt Julian

St. Julian is a municipality in the district of Kusel, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Lauter corners. St. Julian is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

St. Julian is located at Glan in the Western Palatinate. To the east is Glanbrücken, in the south Welchweiler, to the west and north is Rathsweiler the Baumholder military training area. Districts are St. Julian, Gumbsweiler, Eschenau and Obereisenbach. The municipality also includes the residential places Pilgerhof, Schramm mill, mill and Bitsch Pfaffental.

History

The community of St. Julian was re- formed on June 7, 1969 the previously independent municipalities Eschenau (then 221 inhabitants), Gumbsweiler (552 inhabitants) and St. Julian ( 716 inhabitants).

Parish council

The local council in Saint Julian consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The 16 seats in the municipal council are divided into two groups of voters.

Community partnership

Since 1985, a partnership with Saint -Julien in Burgundy (France) is maintained.

Culture and sights

Structures

The landmark of St. Julian is the important, Built in Rundbogenstil Protestant parish church.

From the medieval church just the side standing slender tower of the 12th century in the new construction of the nave 1880/81 by the Bavarian Baubeamten Zellner and Schacky was retained. The result is an impressive hall building with vaulted choir followed. The flat slab resting on broken consoles. A circular wooden gallery is available on three sides. The architects used a Venetian window form here. A horizontal rung divides the elongated window into two regions. The equipment from the building time is completely preserved.

Economy and infrastructure

In Saint Julian there is a kindergarten and a primary school.

Through the village the main road runs 420 The Glantalbahn that with Eschenau (Pfalz ) and St. Julian decreed within the local church through two intermediate stops, is shut down. On it there is a trolley traffic for day trippers. In Lauterecken is a railway station of Lauterbrunnen Valley Railway.
