Sanpaolo IMI

The company Sanpaolo IMI SpA was up to its merger with Banca Intesa SpA a great credit bank in Italy with headquarters in Turin.

The company employs approximately 44,000 employees (2006). Within Italy, the bank had nearly 3,200 branches and was also in 34 countries with 142 offices on site. The market capitalization stood at around 27.6 billion euros.

Sanpaolo IMI held the majority in the company Banca Fideuram.

On January 1, 2007, Sanpaolo IMI SpA was Banca Intesa SpA incorporated. When a share exchange by January 2, 2007 Sanpaolo shareholders per share were 3.115 Intesa shares. The new company is called Intesa Sanpaolo SpA. Thus the second largest bank in Italy was born.

Sanpaolo IMI thus left as a listed company from the financial index FTSE MIB.
