Sansare

Sansare is around 3,500 inhabitants counting place and a municipality in the department of El Progreso in Guatemala. It is located about 70 km northeast of Guatemala City and 20 km south-west of Guastatoya at 790 meters altitude. The town is located on the National Road 19, the 9 branches in Monte Grande at Sanarate from the Atlantic Highway CA southeast and leads up to Jalapa and Jutiapa.

The 118 km ² large municipality extends in the southern hills of El Progreso. It has a total of about 13,000 inhabitants, of whom live mostly in rural settlements and villages, including Buena Vista, El aguaje, El Llano, Estación Jalapa, La Montañita, Las Cabezas, La Trinidad, Los Cerritos, Poza Verde, Quebrada Grande, Río Grande Arriba, Río Grande Abajo, San Felipe Las Tablas, Santa Bárbara and El Juez.

Adjacent Municipalities are Guastatoya in the north and in the west Sanarate. In the south and east borders the department of Jalapa Sansare.

The municipality Sansare belonged until 1872 to the department of Guatemala and to 1908 to Jalapa.
