Santa Ana Department

Santa Ana is one of 14 departments in El Salvador and is located in the northwest of the country on the border with Guatemala and Honduras.

The capital of the department is the city of Santa Ana. Founded the Department on February 8, 1855.

In Santa Ana, there is an archaeological Mayan archaeological site in Tazumal, which originates from the Quiché Maya. The 2,381 -meter high volcano Santa Ana is also located in this department.
