The California Clan (AKA Santa Barbara ) was a daily American soap opera. The time series was broadcast in the USA from 30 July 1984 to 15 January 1993 with a total of 2,137 episodes on NBC.

Content

In the beginning it was "California Clan " to the fate of four families: the Capwells that Lockridges, the Perkins and the Andrades. The network of families and storylines changed over time. So it was after a few months, the Andrade and Perkins, who disappeared almost completely from the scene. The series had initially struggled to assert itself in the audience 's favor. New authors brought back new characters and new families with them, in parallel also rolls were deleted; John Perkins (Robert Allen Brown ), who died as a result of the Santa Barbara earthquake, was one of the first victims, whose role was removed from new authors to draft a new plotline.

Broadcast

The commercial broadcaster RTL (formerly RTL plus) beamed the soap opera in Germany on 4 January 1988 to 28 March 1988 at the eve program ( 19:25 clock ) under the original title, and from 4 January 1989 great success under the title " California Clan "from the afternoon program at 13:20 clock. By 17 October 1997, the private channels showed this 2,123 episodes; different Christmas episodes have been omitted here, and the entire storyline, as Gina (Robin Mattson ) and Keith (Justin Deas ) in the game show " Wheel of Fortune" ( in Germany at Sat.1: " Wheel of Fortune" ) to participate.
