Santa Cruz da Graciosa is a small town ( Vila ) with 1775 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011) on the Azores island of Graciosa, Portugal.
History
From the occupation of the island in 1439 by the Kingdom of Portugal started from 1450 the colonization of the island of Graciosa, by the families of the two settlers Pedro Correia da Cunha from Porto Santo (supposedly a later brother of Christopher Columbus ) and Vasco Gil Sodré, a nobleman from Montemor -o -Velho.
1486 the county of Santa Cruz was (German: Holy Cross ) was established as the official administrative unit for the entire island territory.
In the 20th century, and more clearly between the 1950s to the 1970s, the island underwent several waves of emigration, especially to the USA.
In 2007, the UNESCO, the island of Graciosa in the list of biosphere reserves.

Santa Cruz da Graciosa is the seat of the homonymous single circle ( concelho ) the island of Graciosa. It covers the entire island territory.
The circuit is formed by four municipalities:
